New Dents on Your Car? 3 Tips to Prevent Door Dings, and What We Can Do to Help.

September 9, 2021

Dealing with traffic and driving around the city can mean, unfortunately, new door dings on your car. Here is how to avoid those ominous parking lot dents, and if you get one, here’s how we can help.

  1. Park Far Away

It may seem obvious, but parking where there are fewer cars greatly reduces your chances of receiving a dent from the car next to you. Walking a little further is worth it if it means your paint will be protected.

2. Steer Clear of Tight Spaces

Steer clear of tight parking spots. Make sure to avoid small parking spots, and especially avoiding parking spots next to a large vehicle that has parked too close to the line. When parking, make sure there is a comfortable space for you to open your doors on either side of the vehicle. This will ensure that you and those parked next to you will not dent your car.

3. Avoid Cars with Car Seats

If you park next to a car and are able to see car seats in the back of the vehicle, you should find another parking spot. In tight spaces, it is difficult to navigate placing a car seat in and out of a vehicle. To remove that risk of being hit, find a new parking spot.

In Case of Door Dings, Color Customs Has You Covered:

We have 2 dent repair options:

  • Paintless Dent Repair:

We use a process called Paintless Dent Repair, or PDR. Paintless Dent Repair, or PDR, is a technique in which we work from the bottom of the dent using specialized tools to remove the dents while preserving the original paint and finish of the vehicle. Paintless Dent Repair is a process that removes dents and other blemishes from the body without the need for paint or body fillers. This process enables us to restore your vehicle to its original condition in a fraction of the time that a conventional body shop will take to repair your vehicle. This is the same process we use with hail damage. It is highly effective and traditionally takes around 3 to 7 days.

  • Conventional Dent Repair:

Conventional repair involves using a sander to remove paint, moving the metal back into shape, and then filling in the remaining gaps. The specialist will then sand the area and spray the area with paint to match the rest of the vehicle. This process traditionally takes 1-2 weeks.

With any repair we do, estimated completion dates are not guaranteed and may have to be changed during the repair.

If you live in Denton, Sanger, Krum or Argyle, and are in need of reliable dent repair, collision repair, or post-repair paintwork, contact family-owned and operated Color Customs Collision today. Stay safe and have a great start to the school year!
